Healthy New Albany offers a wide variety of classes, community programs, and events – all about enjoying life while improving health! Our programs are open to everyone (no residency or membership restrictions).

Nourish Programs

Nourish Jr. – Sushi Rollers

Learn the basics of rolling, seasoning, and creating vibrant sushi rolls. Unleash your creativity with colorful ingredients and discover the joy of making your own sushi creations. Get ready for a tasty journey that’s as fun as it is flavorful!

Nourish Jr. – Mini-Camp: Cooking 101

Learn fundamental cooking skills in a fun, immersive environment!! This 4-session mini-camp is for students ages 11+ who are excited to get hands-on in the kitchen!

Location: Philip Heit Center – Demo Kitchen
Fee: $195 for 4-week series
Ages: 11-17-years-old

Knowledge Programs

Community Health Talks

Join us for a series of Community Health Talks that will cover health and wellness topics from local experts.

Location: Philip Heit Center
Free to attend.

 

Father Daughter Workshop

Join Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX) for a fun and empowering workshop for dads and their girls, grades 4-5. At this workshop, you will start in your peer groups – with girls getting to discuss how to find their voice and dads learning simple strategies for communicating with their girls. Then, together, you will get a safe archery lesson and target practice from the Ohio Division of Wildlife.

Music Together

These fun family classes include songs, rhythmic chants, movement, instrument play, and of course lots of fun – developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers.

Movement Programs

Lift Like a Girl: Summer Fit Camp

Girls will learn techniques for building strength, conditioning, and increasing mobility. We will also spend some time in the kitchen learning about nutrition preparing a healthy recipe together.

Ages: Rising 5th – 10th Grades

Fee: $40/session

It’s a Dance Party: Zumba, Hip-Hop, & Choreo

Join our dance party! This class is about expression and fun, no matter your skill level. The format will be 20 minutes of Hip-Hop, 20 minutes of Zumba, and 20 minutes of learning choreography to make you feel like you are part of a music video.

Dates: June 1, June 8 , June 29, July 6

Instructors: Jennifer & Ryan Barksdale, and Pamela Conn

Location: Hinson Amphitheater

Fee: $30 for 2-class session

Foundations for Full Body Fitness

The course will serve as an introduction to full body exercises using scientifically proven, effective approaches. We have a phased approach focusing on stability, flexibility, core, strength and muscle development.

Dates: July 22, July 29, August 5

Location: Philip Heit Center

Fee: $35 for 3-week series

Outdoor Tai Chi

This program combines traditional Tai Chi Form patterns with basic foundational techniques and incorporates movements from Qi Gong, all while moving at a gentle and slow pace. Each session takes place at a different outdoor location in New Albany!

Schedule: Wednesdays 10:30 – 11:30 am; Dates vary (see website)

Fitness as a Family

Fitness as a Family is a program designed to promote health and wellness among families through fun and engaging physical activities. Our program focuses on creating a supportive and inclusive environment where families can bond, stay active, and develop healthy habits together.
